RiverHorse Ceramics
Collection by Laurie Carretta-Scupp
My ceramics are hand built using slabs and molds. I work with red earthenware clay, which provides a natural warmth to enhance images. The illustrations are done using colored clay slips or underglazes. The functional pottery is meant to be used, so the glaze is lead free - food, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
I work on a small porch studio at my home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. I enjoy the abundant sunlight, fresh air, and views of nature and animals. This environment not only affects the form and imagery incorporated into my stories, but also how and when I work, thus becoming a part of the narrative.
